The cost of a school meal is currently £2.80 per meal/£14.00 per week. Payment for school meals needs to be sent into school with your child each week. If your child is entitled to free school meals this will need to be confirmed by the benefits department, please contact the school office to discuss this further. An application form for free school meals is available from the school office or you can apply online. To qualify for free school meals you must be in receipt of certain benefits or credits, the school office can advise you of these.

Lunch is prepared in the school kitchen. A cafeteria system operates and pupils choose their own meal from the counter and carry it to a table to eat it. Students who need to be supported to do this are helped appropriately. A Halal choice and a vegetarian choice are available each day. The daily choice always includes healthy eating options, for example, salads and jacket potatoes.

Students may bring a packed lunch if they prefer. A healthy packed lunch is vital to ensure your child gets enough energy and nutrients to last the rest of the school day. A healthy packed lunch should contain a balance of foods. Try to include something from each of the four main food groups:

  1. Bread, rice, potatoes, pasta and other starchy foods
  2. Fruit and vegetables
  3. Meat, fish, eggs, beans and other non-dairy proteins
  4. Milk and dairy foods

Remember to include a drink. Chocolate, crisps and fizzy drinks are not allowed, also please note that we are a 'nut free school' and no nuts are to be included in packed lunches, this includes students and staff.
