Pioneer House High School is an outstanding 100 place Free Special School, established in September 2016, for students with significant learning difficulties aged from 11-19 years.

The school has a focus on developing Enterprise, Employability and Independence Skills with our pupils; as a result of rapid expansion we require a TA3, with experience of working with pupils with SEND, to join our successful and committed team. We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to join the English team.

 

Role Purpose

The post holder will support teaching and learning across the school, providing support for the teaching of literacy and the management of resources, as directed by the Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for English and other senior staff. The successful applicant must be able to work effectively with the whole school community including pupils, parents, governors and staff. 

 

About you

The successful candidate will:

  • Join the English team and play a proactive role in developing excellent provision for the teaching of English and functional literacy, following school policies and protocols.
  • Support class teams and teachers to deliver effective literacy teaching and learning.
  • Manage English resources across school
  • Manage specialist support in this specific area of the curriculum and take a lead role in addressing the needs of pupils who require help to overcome barriers to learning. 
  • Deliver learning programmes and support individual pupils, small groups (and whole classes during the short term absence of teachers)
